Creating and handspinning my artyarn skein for the Handspun Revolution Exhibition that Lexi Boeger (PluckyFluff) is preparing in Lillehammer for next May, 7th has been an exciting experience.
This is what Lexi wrote on her blog, when calling for submissions.

I want to take a yarn from every single spinner out there willing and connect them all into one single continuous strand. One yarn made from many. An example of our collective individuality culminating into a single beautiful whole. Which is exactly what the Handspun Revolution is.

I couldn’t resist the temptation. I’ve been learning so much on Lexi’s books and I consider myself -- presomptuous of me? -- a little part of her Handspun Revolution crowd.

Can you imagine my face when I watched on Facebook this video, showing the winding of (hopefully) the world’s largest skein of HAND-SPUN yarn?

It all started when some weeks ago my sister bought some artficial flowers in a chinese store.
They looked wonderful and as I saw them I decided to insert them in a yarn.
I never carded and handspun a yarn in less time than I did for Minnie: I had it so clear in my mind, that making it was a breeze!!!
Even its title came out effortless: Minnie is my sister’s nickname.
Minnie has been a very lucky yarn. It was nominated in the Etsy Voter, ending in third position, and it sold out in a few hours.

I had had so much fun handspinning it, that I felt the need to spin something similar.
An so, Bouganvillea appeared in my Etsy Shop.

It made Etsy Front Page and sold out too.
Then, as it was time to prepare something for the EtsyItaliaTeam Challenge, whose theme was Spring, I decided to give my polyester flower a last chance to show off. I didn’t want to repeat the previous yarns, so I opted for something unusual.
To me, Spring has three dominant colors: pinks and fuchsias of peach blossoms, the bright orange of a sunny day and…the grey of clouds and sudden storms so typical during spingtime.
I handpainted a soft superfine merino roving and then spun it into a nice and fluffy spiral yarn, adding a lot of beaded flowers as an accent.
The result is shown in these pics.
